Hey everyone. I'm currently in flight school and my ultimate goal is to fly for FedEx. Obviously I have a few years before I meet the minimums to apply, but I'd like to do everything I can to help my odds when I do. I'm currently at IND and they are having a hiring session for package handlers. I don't need the job, and to be completely honest, I'm not especially keen on the idea of the labor involved. My current job requires a lot less work and pays more. Also, when I'm done with school, I will owe several years to a specific regional as part of my education loan repayment. What is the time frame that having worked for FedEx ground in the past would actually be beneficial, if at all? I have to assume that it would increase my chances by at least 1%, and in theory, anything that increases my chances of living my dream would be worth it, right? Has anyone worked for a different division of fedex and then had that help when applying to fly for them? If I can't meet minimums or am obligated for 5 years, is it worth it to work a less desirable job that compensates me less? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the process but I spoke to a buddy of mine and could use some insight. I'm a First Officer based in LGA. Our CA rep flowed to AA. I guess he was the FO rep recently but was just elected to CA rep prior to flowing (?). We have a new FO rep now and no Captain rep. I was told that there was some meeting recently and the new FO rep was pushing some idea about him wanting to be awarded captain when he can't hold the position?
From what I heard, it seems like he was only focused on making a change that would only affect him. I thought reps were supposed to be addressing bigger issues like the pay thing or other stuff that have more impact than one person.
Anyway, my friend told me that it apparently was pretty distasteful the way he went about it and it looked like he wasn't concerned with any other issue but his.
Is there a recourse to make sure that LGA FO's (and Captains) are represented properly? We have a lot of other problems that need to be addressed and I'm worried that they won't be at the forefront of someone who is only pushing his personal agenda.
Thanks in advance for the insight.

On layovers do you typically hangout with the flight attendants? I usually go my own way as I think it's unwise but notice others do it on the norm.

C5 driver here. Republic pilots are welcome on my Jumpseat. I understand the fight but Republic pilots can ride with me, war or not. Hope our pilots will be welcome to ride with you.

This is a poll to see the preferred method of transportation after I begin to deny United JSers.
As a Skywest CA, I will not allow any United pilot on my Jumpseat. Your MEC really screwed up with this one.
Also if I hear any threat of career progression I will report you straight to your chief pilot. Ive urged and coached other CAs to make this same decision. Do NOT expect better treatment as all Skywest CAs will be following this decision. My ultimate question is: Why does your pilot group continue to look down on regional pilots? As I said earlier, I hope you all get used to using Greyhound and Amtrak.

So,
What are we doing? This seems like a regional-like Mesa knee jerk move to some new Big Brother/Daddy Legacy schedule. We own our schedules and staffing/planning. What the he[[ are we doing?
This week were putting our RSA like candy corn. Theres not a cloud in the sky and its mid-week in October. F-ing October!!! There are ZERO reserves. Fleet Launch flights launching with NO FO present at push time. Oops?
But its cool that we dont get a MINT seat on a DH? Or, just keep saying goodbye to the customers to make them feel good at the end of the flight. Im telling you Ive had more customers tell me off or tell me how bad we suck in the last 2 months than I have in 8 years. Im not very proud to be at J-Blue these days. Someone talk me down and that things are going to get better. Im updating my apps.

I heard that people with class dates a few months ago were assigned a type based on company needs. Do any recent NHs have any information on how they were assigned a type or if you got to use your last four social to pick between the 2 and the 7/9?
Cheers

Be advised that the Skywest Airline Pilots Association which represents Skywest Pilots has decided to pick a fight with United, ExpressJet, Air Wisconsin, and Commutair Pilots. They are denying us the jumpseat.
I would recommend steering clear of Skywest until this issue is resolved. There is a lot of hiring going on right now and you really dont want to get in the middle of this food fight.

Hello,
I've had my app in to United for a while. I'm currently an RJ Captain with a degree and 2700 hrs. I was looking around online but couldn't find anyyhing about United doing Job Fairs or Meet The Chief type events.
I saw them once in an aero crew event several months ago but came up empty besides that. Can anybody point me in the right place or does United even do them?
Thanks in advance

Am I doing something wrong or do I seriously have to enter my work and living address history every time. I was an idiot in college and worked lots of different summer jobs and moved every year at college so I have to enter all of those, every. single. time. I cant wait till 2024 because then I will have the same work history and address history and it will be so simple to enter one work and one place I have lived. I really want to fly for Jet Blue, but come on. Can you please update you application to auto fill.

I'm filling out application on AirlineApps and will soon be hitting the submit button. Can someone fill me in at all on the background employment/reference checks?
The application asks for supervisor and phone numbers for all your jobs - I've been in the Army for 26 years, all but two of my supervisors are retired already and many of the locations I was stationed don't even exist anymore. So, is it appropriate to put down my current bosses name/number for everyone I don't have a number for? He can verify all my employment - has known me for years.
Just trying to be thorough.
thanks.

Broadly speaking, can anyone enlighten me on the timeline for attaining the DEN domicile? Also what is the base like? Aircraft, trips, etc? I assume it's rather a senior base, but that is simply my guess. Much appreciated.

I am considering Mesa and would like to know if there are any good rumors out there that about anything positive in the future? Pay is pretty low, I mean the bonus helps first year, but that second year is not very enticing :(. Yeah, I doubt I have many other options so I don't really have much room to complain, but I would love to hear if there is anything that may give a little optimism about the choice.
Thanks
